FICORA monitors that all television users submit a television notification. This means that, all over Finland, television fee inspectors continuously make visits to households, which according to the television fee register, have not submitted a television notification.
The intensified inspections are often related to regional television fee campaigns. The majority of new television fees are registered via various campaigns and inspections. Every year, the inspections reveal that a total of 20,000 television users have neglected to submit their notification.
It is not necessary to carry out the television notification inspection inside the place of residence. Neither do the inspectors enter households without the permission of the resident.
However, the person who is present in the household at the time of the inspection is obliged to truthfully tell the inspector the following:
With the permission given to the inspector, the television notification will enter into force on the day following the inspection.
It is easy and natural to chat with the inspector. The part-time inspectors often work as policemen or in other professions requiring good people skills. The inspectors are given thorough training before they begin working.
