When you start using a television set, you must notify FICORA of it. On the basis of the notification, the authority will send a television fee invoice to the television user.
Analogue television transmissions ended in aerial households on 31 August 2007 and in the cable network on 29 February 2008. The obligation to pay the television fee continues after this, if you watch television programmes, e.g.:
FICORA collects television fees for the State Television and Radio Fund to be further used to finance the operations of the Finnish Broadcasting Company.
Also, all other Nordic countries and nearly all western European countries finance public radio and television services by television fees.
In Finland, the number of television notifications is currently about two million.
