Obligation to pay TV fee continues until end of 2012

According to the decision reached by the parliamentary groups, YLE's public service broadcasting would be funded from the Budget from 2013 onwards. A new 'YLE tax', an individual public broadcasting tax, would thus be introduced. However, the obligation to pay the television fee continues until the end of 2012, and television fee inspections are carried out as usual.

According to the decision reached today by the parliamentary groups, the funding of the Finnish Broadcasting Company YLE will be covered by a so-called YLE tax from the beginning of 2013 onwards. When the new legislation enters into force, the current television fee system will be discontinued.
